UN RÊVE PLUS LONG QUE LA NUIT

Description

Eleven-year old Camelia wakes up in a fairy-tale dreamland. She is held captive by an enormous dragon who adores her. Camelia, however, wants to see the world, and manages to escape. She meets the Witch, the Black Man, and the Bird-man. The Witch promises to show the girl a treasure (love) if she is able to go through the Seven Mystery Doors… Written and directed by Niki de Saint Phalle, Un re^ve plus long que la nuit is an adult fairy tale inspired by elements from the artist’s life. The film brings Saint Phalle’s creative well to life. Her work, as well as that of her companion Jean Tinguely, explores her fears and obsessions and sets the stage for a strange journey through the psyche of one of the most renowned women artists of the 20th century. A film with elaborate visual language, it has been rarely shown since its release in 1976 and has recently been converted into digital format. Un re^ve plus long que la nuit is Niki de Saint Phalle’s second film, after Daddy, which she directed with Peter Whitehead in 1973.
