Marcel Broodthaers Broodthaers - Modèle La Pipe, 1969 photo Maria Gilissen

Description

After a major exhibition in 2019 at Mukha in Antwerp, Marcel Broodthaers has an exhibition at Wiels, focusing on his famous thermoformed plastic plates or "industrial poems”. A new way of exploring language that has become a trademark: poetic “advertising”. A big Marcel Broodthaers exhibition in Belgium is always an event. They have been held in recent years in New York, Madrid, and Brussels (a dialogue with Magritte). The New York Times described him as one of the most influential European poet-artists of the twentieth century, who influenced a generation of young American artists.
