The evening will be divided into two parts:
•First part: the Brussels Dance Contest
•Second part: HÆAR performed by Sarah Mck Fife Company

The performance will directly be followed by the proclamation of the results and the price giving.


FINAL - BRUSSELS DANCE CONTEST
Brussels International Contemporary Dance Contest

Selected among a hundred applications from all over the world during the semi-final in October 2020 in Brussels, the 11 finalists will present their self-choreographed contemporary dance solo on the stage of the Uccle Cultural Centre.

What the dancers, aged between 18 and 28, are playing for is to get noticed by one of the international dance companies present in the jury. This remarkable jury gathered for the occasion will evaluate their live performance in order to elect the winner of the Brussels Dance Contest 2021.

During the evening, the public will also be asked to select the winner for the public choice price.

A combination of the words "Haar" (Hair) and "Her" (She), HÆAR (/hɛr/) tackles the theme of the HAIR, taking on its full volume and color as soon as we review its meaning and place through the History of our civilisations. Endowed with an unsuspected symbolic value within cultures, religions, arts and mythology, the HAIR is an element of seduction, a symbol of strength and power, femininity or virility, bravery or shame...

A theme that finds its resonance in EACH ONE OF US!

Through her choreographic writing, Sarah Mck Fife gives a forgotten, almost unknown importance to this hair which, by way of her gestures, literally replaces the dancers' bodies, a body which for the first time is pushed into the background.
