Midsummer Mozartiade

Description

Mozart’s last opera will bring Brussels in tune with Imperial Rome for an entire week this summer.

From 20 to 27 June, the 5th annual Midsummer Mozartiade festival will present the masterly opera La clemenza di Tito at the Théâtre des Martyrs. This powerful lyrical fable about friendship, passion, betrayal and forgiveness will delight all audiences, be they confirmed opera fans or curious first timers. Lyrical rendezvous in the theatre, free brass concerts in the square, free lectures in the bookshop … this convivial summer festival aims to make Mozart's masterpieces more accessible for everyone. It also uses their universal appeal to provide a vital springboard for emerging opera artists and to draw attention to a somewhat forgotten architectural treasure, the Place des Martyrs.

Enguerrand de Hys (ténor); Karen Vermeiren (soprano); Pauline Claes (mezzo); Laura Telly Cambier (soprano); Julie Vercauteren (soprano); Shadi Torbey (bass); Eric Gobin (metteur en scene); Gabriel Hollander (chef d’orchestre); l’Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallionie; Gianna Cañete Gallo (soprano); Lucas Blondeel (pianiste); Geneva Brass Quintet; Make It Slide; Ensemble de Cuivres de Belgique
