Enjoy a musical moment at the Atomium
On October 29, 2021, the Atomium will invite the Bossa Flor Sextet to a concert focusing on the intercultural ties between the French-speaking world with covers of songs by Georges Brassens and Brazilian music. Be inspired by the beautiful words of Brassens, topped with a rhythmic sauce, in the event sphere of the symbol of Belgium.
2021 is the centenary of Georges Brassens' birth and the fortieth anniversary of his death will be celebrated on October 29th. This lover of words did not want his music to be noticed so as not to distract attention from the words. His melodies have nevertheless inspired musicians from all countries, all horizons and all styles... Over time, artists have examined the at first sight improbable links between bossa nova, samba, flamenco, rhythm'n blues and his songs, and we discover adaptations at various festivals that demonstrate the richness of these exchanges. These influences and multiple encounters were the starting point for a Belgian-French-Brazilian adventure that resulted in the Brassens dans tous ses états project in which different styles revisit Brassens' songs. A double album was produced, bringing together some forty musicians who put their art at the service of the great poet's melodies. The music ranges from bossa nova and samba to classical, blues, jazz (including gypsy) and picking. The concert on 29 October at the Atomium will present part of this opus with the Bossa Flor Sextet (vocals, guitar, keyboard, saxophone, bass and drums) and a guest singer. The two-part evening will illustrate the intercultural links between Brazilian music and the French-speaking world with covers of Brassens' songs in bossa nova and samba rhythms, and a selection of Antonio Carlos Jobim's standards interpreted in French.
