Description
The exhibition gives visitors the possibility of seeing the museums’ permanent collections through another prism. A contemporary dialogue with contemporary artists from an art academy challenges one’s gaze in a museum where the past plays a central role. Approaching our heritage through the eyes of these artists lets us open up to another age, to another world.
RHoK Academie’s "Vrije Grafiek" (“Free Graphics”) workshop offers an artistic dialogue about the process of creating images. The works of art, be they on paper (woodcuts, lithographs, silk screen prints, etc.) or digital challenge the permanent collections of the Erasmus House.
This back-and-forth between eras and representations also sheds light on the dissemination of ideas in the 16th century – something dear to Erasmus’s heart – and puts it in perspective with the viral spread of images in today’s media.
RHoK's Eye – Impression / Expression: images of bygone days seen through the eyes of today’s artists, or when the eye and vision become light, colour, and creation.
