As the Tour de France 2019 will leave from Brussels with the first milestones being in Wallonia, the Espace Wallonie will present a fascinating exhibition on the 100th anniversary of the Maillot Jaune. From 28 March to 14 July 2019.
The exhibition pays tribute to the 15,059 sports enthusiasts who joined the race and its 3,228 giants. Many Belgian cyclists have proudly worn the maillot jaune, the most famous being Eddy Merckx, a superhero who won it 111 during his career.

It's in 1919 (the 11th edition of the Tour) that Director Henri Desgrange bcreated the maillot jaune, a tribute to L'Auto, a newspaper sporting this colour and the main sponsor of the race at the time. Loved by both the cyclists and the public, it became the best way to spot the number one in the crowd.
