Terra focuses itself on the relationship to the earth and its close connection to the female body. A symbol of fertility, an underground yet sovereign matrix, Terra is to be perceived as a performance emphasising the liberation of the female body through dance. Enveloped in a black cloth accentuating the rhythm of her breath, the dancer Fanny Gombert is led to experience different states of being, beginning the performance like a destructured morphing carnal mass, close to the soil, only to end up immobile as her body faces the sky in a posture of defiance.
A dialogue is set up on stage with a second figure, seeking to give life to the dancing body through its presence and touch. The exchange is powered by the actions of the composer Jacopo Baboni Schilingi enriching the musical composition through a series of sensors. It is truly the manual gestures of the latter that reflect the unfolding of the dancer’s body. A dual respiratory detection system makes it possible to enrich this exchange between the protagonists, thus transforming their physical encounter into a single entity. The music effectively becomes the carrier between this intimate and dynamic exchange thanks to the special setting centred around their breathing.
