The Great American Songbook
This is an evening that celebrates the music of the Great American Songbook. Internationally celebrated singer/pianist Pete Churchill - a master of this genre - will deliver an evening of classic Vocal Jazz. Currently Professor of Jazz Singing at the Brussels Conservatoire and Head of Jazz Composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Pete Churchill was accompanist to the great Mark Murphy for fifteen years and in his long career as a pianist, singer, choral director and conductor, he has also worked with Jon Hendricks, Sheila Jordan, Norma Winstone, Kenny Wheeler, Abdullah Ibrahim and many more.
This evening you will be introduced to a selection of great songs, some familiar of course, but also some rarer gems that deserve to be heard more often. If you like sophisticated and swinging piano-led Jazz singing then this is definitely for you.
Pete will be supported by two of Belgium’s finest Rhythm section players, Victor Foulon on the Double Bass and Renaud Person on the Drums.
