Description

Contretype is an association that was founded in 1978 by Jean-Louis Godefroid (1952-2013). It describes itself as an exhibition, production and distribution space focusing on creative photography irrespective of particular practices or genres. For more than thirty years, Contretype has been engaged in catering for European and extra-European artistic output in Brussels and, by establishing working relationships with its partners, distributing the output of Belgian artists abroad. The main activities of Contretype are : exhibitions in Cité Fontainas or, externally, setting up photographic missions, artists’ residencies, publishing photography books and portfolios and holding conferences on photography.
