Description

Built by engineer André Waterkeyn in 1958, the Atomium was constructed specifically for Expo 58 and was never meant to stay permanently. However, in 2006 the monument, that is inspired by the structure of an iron crystal, was renovated and since then has welcomed 600,000 visitors per year.
